Update 10 – Polish Sprint – Week 1


[Programming] - Niels

I Made the menu to restart the level or the round, quit or see controls. And HUD for the Power ups + some bugs.


[Art] - Bilguun

This week I finalised the UI concept for the gameplay and created color coded avatars that match the player characters. I've imported them into Unreal and replaced the placeholders. This week I aim to work on the the look of the menus.

I also toned down the effects on the torch particles such as embers and smaller bursts and increased the blending of the flames to make it fit better to the style. There was a problem with flickering lights and sudden loss of light at certain places in the map. We planned to fix it by removing the light emitted by the torches and adding a point light manually.

[ART] - Cristina

I created some environment props to decorate the interior of the ruins, such as barrels, chests, bones and lost weapons.
I finished the particle effects for projectiles such as fire, ice, lightning and slime.  I added the particle effects into the blueprint for projectiles and updated the material for the projectile mesh to have more shine.
I decorated the main level of the game with the props I created.



[ART] - Rocío

This week i have been working on the obstacles:

  • For the slime area I created a mesh with an animated material with displacement
  • For the fire area I created some embers and I added an existent particle system
  • For the electrical area I made a particle system
  • I replaced the ice obstacle with a mesh

I created a particle for the character to use it when it gets a velocity bonus.

An electrocuted animation for the character has been set to help the player to understand why his character can’t move.

To optimise the level I made a flickering light that we can use for the fire, so we can have only one light and remove the lights from the fire particles.

Finally I created some meshes to combine with the floor tiles to get more variation, but this are not on the main level yet.


[Programming] - Denis

This week I implemented a particle effect so the players can see how long their speed-up lasts. I also fixed some bugs regarding movement and the shooting mechanic.

Also I added a delay so you don't die immediately when you go off screen.
